Why Use a Safety Lockout Padlock?

Safety lockout padlocks provide a clear physical method of securing an energy isolation point while work is being carried out.

The bright red body and lockout identification labels make the padlock easy to recognise as part of a Lockout/Tagout procedure.

Because the KD-P38S-RED is Keyed Different, each padlock has its own individual key. This makes it suitable for personal lockout applications where an individual worker applies their own padlock and retains control of the key until their work is complete.

What Does Keyed Different Mean?

Keyed Different (KD) means each padlock has its own individual key combination.

The key supplied with one Keyed Different padlock is intended to operate that particular lock rather than other differently keyed padlocks.

This helps maintain individual control of locks when multiple workers are carrying out Lockout/Tagout procedures.

Related Hazards

This safety lockout padlock can form part of procedures used to control hazards associated with:

  • Unexpected machinery start-up
  • Electrical energy
  • Mechanical energy
  • Stored energy
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Moving machinery
  • Maintenance and servicing operations

Helps Comply With

Safety lockout padlocks can support workplace procedures for the safe isolation of machinery and equipment before maintenance, servicing, cleaning or repair work.

The appropriate isolation procedure and lockout equipment should always be selected according to your workplace risk assessment, machinery requirements and established health and safety procedures.
