If you’re not sure whether you need a Hazchem 3Z 1202 sign, a Hazchem 3Z 3082 sign, or just a UN 3082 environmental placard, this guide will make it clear.

Getting this right isn’t just good practice — it’s a compliance requirement under HSNO, NZS 5433:2020, and NZS/AS 1319:1994.

🏭 When to Use Each Sign

  • Use Hazchem 3Z 1202 when you’re identifying diesel as a flammable liquid — this is the most common requirement for bulk tanks and tankers.

  • Use Hazchem 3Z UN 3082 when environmental protection is also a priority, such as near stormwater drains, rivers, or sensitive sites.

  • Use UN 3082 Placards when your main goal is to show compliance with Class 9 labelling for transport or storage.
